A couple of weeks ago I readthe headlines about the USS New York and was intrigued by the story of its fabrication.
Moreover it recalled a story that I was already familiar with in roman mythology. That is the Ship of Theseus, In short the story sparks much interest in the field of philosophy, specficaaly in Metaphysics. The problem of the ship of theseus is integrated within the story itself. iN short Theseus arrives back in the same ship with the difference being that the ships planks have been replaced by new parts. Now material makes a difference in If materiality does make any differencr on the Steel was the alloy recycled from the infastructure of ground zero. Two transeferences take place, recycling and resurction, a semiotic transference from the victims to metal of the collapsed bulding from building to boat. from the vertical to the horizontal ( greGORY BATCOCK).
